Inside The Dancing Pine, a New Korean Steakhouse at Sakura Novi
The Dancing Pine, a new elevated Korean steakhouse, opened last month in Sakura Novi, a fresh Asian-themed outdoor mall on Grand River in Novi. The restaurant is the latest venture from Ann Arbor restaurateur Min Kyu Kim, whose hospitality group also operates Kimchi Box, Dae Jang Keum, and several other local spots. Executive chef James Jung, who has worked in Chicago, California, and Las Vegas, relocated to Michigan for the role.
The 4,500-square-foot dining room overlooks Sakura Novi's pond and garden and blends traditional and modern Korean design. Each table has a Shinpo charcoal grill with a smokeless ventilation system; staff handle the grilling rather than diners cooking themselves, adding to the upscale feel. The menu features 10 different steaks (eight wagyu varieties including Japanese A5 Miyazaki), fresh seafood, and Korean raw beef with caviar, plus multi-course group options with curated side dishes. Desserts come from Kim's ONDO Bakery in Ann Arbor.
The restaurant is open Tuesday–Sunday, 3–9:30 p.m. at 42738 Grand River Ave., Suite 100, Novi. A grand opening ceremony is planned for early August.
