Novi: staff do the grilling at this new Korean steakhouse

NOVI. The Dancing Pine, a Korean steakhouse from Ann Arbor restaurateur Min Kyu Kim, opened last month at 42738 Grand River Ave., Suite 100, inside Sakura Novi. The 4,500-square-foot dining room looks out on the mall's pond and garden, and every table has a Shinpo charcoal grill with smokeless ventilation. Staff do the grilling here, not the diners.

Executive chef James Jung, who came to Michigan after cooking in Chicago, California, and Las Vegas, built a menu around 10 steaks, eight of them wagyu including Japanese A5 Miyazaki, plus fresh seafood and Korean raw beef with caviar. Desserts come from Kim's ONDO Bakery in Ann Arbor. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday, 3 to 9:30 p.m., with a grand opening ceremony planned for early August.
