Shakespeare Royal Oak: As You Like It moves to 1830s Detroit
ROYAL OAK. Shakespeare Royal Oak opens "As You Like It" July 23 through August 2 at Starr Jaycee Park, 1301 W. 13 Mile Road, with director Kelli Radamacher setting the comedy in 1830s Detroit. Rosalind gets banished, disguises herself as a man, and runs into Orlando, who's also been banished and has no idea who she really is. Tickets are $35 online, or $30 a person for groups of 10 or more.
The company's teen ensemble stages "The Taming of the Shrew" July 26 through 28 at 7 p.m., after rehearsing July 13 through 17, and its KidsAct! program for grades one through eight rehearses July 27 through 31 before performing August 1 at 11 a.m. Both youth programs are already full.
