Ann Arbor Art Fair: three fairs, a thousand artists, one weekend

ANN ARBOR. The Ann Arbor Art Fair runs July 16 through 18 this year, and organizers expect nearly half a million visitors. It's really three fairs at once: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, and the Ann Arbor State Street District Art Fair, showing work from about a thousand juried artists from Michigan and across the country.

Karen Bauer, who has run the Summer Art Fair for 20 years, and Detroit marbling artist Teesha Lieber of Spontaneity Works talked about the festival on WDET's The Metro. Bauer said the three fairs have worked together since the early 1960s and run "a well oiled machine" by now. There's a Youth Art Fair and a Kids Collectors Club for younger visitors.
