Detroit City FC: Jay Farner makes the club's biggest investment yet
DETROIT. Jay Farner, the former Rocket Companies CEO, has made the largest single investment in Detroit City FC's history and is joining the DCFC Holdings board. The dollar amount is undisclosed. The deal comes through his firm, Ronin Capital Partners.
The money helps fund AlumniFi Field, a 15,000-seat soccer stadium planned for the old Southwest Detroit Hospital site at Michigan Avenue and I-96, part of a $200 million project that also includes a 421-space parking garage and 104 apartments, 76 of them affordable. Detroit's City Council approved it unanimously.
DCFC says it already has nearly 6,000 seat deposits and expects the stadium to open in time for the 2028 USL Championship season, with more than 1,000 construction jobs and 140 permanent ones along the way.
