Pizza Palooza: 17 pizzerias, two people it's helping
ST. CLAIR SHORES. The Optimists Club of St. Clair Shores brings back Pizza Palooza on July 19, noon to 6 p.m., at Blossom Heath Park, 24800 Jefferson Avenue. Seventeen pizza restaurants will serve slices for $3 a ticket, or four tickets for $10; soft drinks run $2, or three for $5.
Every dollar goes to two people: William Kemp, who needs stem cell therapy for autism treatment, and 22-year-old Matthew Greiner, who needs an accessible bathroom installed. Judges include Domino's owner Darren Thomas, 40 years in the business, and Fredi Bello, rated Michigan's best pizza by the One Bite app and Barstool Sports. There's magic, a DJ, Pink Elephant Cupcakes, and the Petitpren beer trailer.
"We've changed someone's life and that's what I wanted Pizza Palooza for," organizer Bryan Owens said. "I wanted to have a huge impact on a particular person."
