Bap-Tizum Gospel Archive: weekly listening sessions through December

DETROIT. Artist and composer Ben Hall built the Bap-Tizum Black Gospel Archive, one of the largest collections of Black and African American sermons, hymns and songs. Most of Hall's possessions were destroyed in a 2019 house fire; a handful of the gospel records survived.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit is showing Choir: The Theology of Preservation, an exhibition built around the collection. Hall hosts listening sessions every Wednesday, noon to 2 p.m., at MOCAD's Mike Kelley Homestead through mid December.
