Detroit's haunted spots: tours run year round

DETROIT. The Whitney mansion, with its Ghost Bar, and the Masonic Temple top the city's list of locations with reported paranormal activity, alongside the Detroit Institute of Arts, Orchestra Hall and several bars and theaters. Eastern Market sits over the former Russell Street Cemetery, and Stephen Simmons's last public execution happened near what's now Hudson's.
Three operators run tours: Detroit History Tours by bus, Wheelhouse Detroit by bike through cemeteries, and U.S. Ghost Adventures on foot nightly, including a tour that starts at the Alhambra Apartments, a building with a history of alleged arsenic poisoning. The Redford Theatre and the Whitney run their own paranormal themed programs.
