Catalpa Oaks: reopens in Southfield after 15 months

SOUTHFIELD. Catalpa Oaks County Park has reopened after a 15 month renovation. The 24 acre park now has a universally accessible playground, new outdoor fitness equipment, a second picnic pavilion, better pathways and shaded gathering areas, plus a new parking lot.

The work was funded through Oakland County Parks' capital improvement program and American Rescue Plan Act money, with help from Priority Health and the National Fitness Campaign for a 1,400 square foot outdoor fitness court. The recreation fields stay closed until spring 2027 so new turf can take hold; a ribbon cutting is planned for then.
