Fresh the Clownsss: Detroit troupe joins the circus through Oct. 25

DETROIT. Fresh the Clownsss, a Detroit clown troupe Ira Smith started in 2013, is performing with UniverSoul Circus at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre through Oct. 25. The act includes Fresh the Clown and SoSo the Clown, and it works hip-hop dance into routines that skip the usual clown look.

The troupe has taken that act into big tops across the country. Shows run through Oct. 25 at the amphitheatre.
