Auburn Hills: free fire safety class Oct. 21, address signs too

AUBURN HILLS. The city holds a free Fire Safety and Evacuation class Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Auburn Hills Community Center. Ten emergency "to-go" kits go to attendees by raffle. An AARP Community Challenge grant pays for the class, plus a companion program giving out free reflective address signs while supplies last.
Auburn Hills was one of 750 communities picked nationwide out of roughly 5,100 applicants for the grant. Residents 60 and older, people with physical challenges, and active military can get help installing their sign through the city's SHARP program.
A reflective sign doesn't put out a fire. It just helps someone find the house.
