Fall festivals: nine Metro Detroit events run Oct. 16 through 18

METRO DETROIT. Nine fall festivals run across the region the weekend of Oct. 16 through 18. Bowers Farm in Bloomfield Hills opens Friday 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with tickets at $15 for Oakland County residents and $19 for everyone else. Ann Arbor's Matthaei Botanical Gardens lights a jack o'lantern trail Friday and Saturday evenings for $20 a person.

Four of the nine cost nothing: Stony Creek Metropark's Kids Fall Festival in Shelby Township, Crosswinds Marsh's Harvest Festival in New Boston, Eliza Howell Park's Harvest Fest in Detroit, and Cider in the City at Beacon Park downtown. Macomb County's HarvestFest at Freedom Hill County Park charges $10 a person plus $6 parking, and Livonia's Wilson Barn runs its Pumpkin Fest free, though the Haunted Barn costs a dollar a trip.

Nine ways to spend a Saturday.
