Halloween, free: skeletons in Northville, lights in Garden City

METRO DETROIT. Five free Halloween stops are open around the region this month, apart from the area's lone haunted house already covered elsewhere. Northville's Streets of Treats, part of its Skeletons Are Alive display, runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. Plymouth pairs its Scarecrows in the Park display at Kellogg Park with Pumpkin Palooza on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Garden City's Bostick Family Light Show, at 29195 Sheridan St., syncs lights to Halloween music Oct. 16 through 18 and Oct. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m., then stays open later on Halloween night, 5 to 10 p.m. Romeo's Tillson Street keeps its decorations up day and night all month, and Trenton hangs hundreds of lit pumpkins from the trees on Boxford Street and Strohm, Friday through Sunday at dusk.

None of it costs a dollar. The gas to get there still does.
