Eloise Asylum: the haunt runs through Nov. 1

WESTLAND. Eloise Asylum, the haunted house inside the Kay Beard Building on Michigan Avenue, runs through Nov. 1 this season, with new scares, a Hollywood makeup artist and a 33 foot projection screen added to the 54,000 square foot building. Wayne County opened the building as a poor house in 1839, took in its first mental patient in 1841, and closed the hospital in 1984. Developers bought the property from the county in 2018.
A closing concert Oct. 30 features Marz Radio and Mob Opera. The haunt's escape room won a Best of Morty award in 2024, and about 1.5 miles of tunnels still run beneath the building, once used to move patients between wards.
