Kirk Gibson Center: 1,371 members finished orientation in year one

FARMINGTON HILLS. The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson's Wellness opened in October 2025. It offers free exercise and education classes for people with Parkinson's and other movement disorders, including tai chi, cardio drumming, and PWR! Moves, at four difficulty levels.
In August, 1,371 members had finished orientation and nearly 1,200 had taken a class. The first-year goal was 800 members and 70 weekly class sessions. The center now runs more than 170 a week.
A $1 million gift from Amy and Daniel Loepp paid for a new 2,700-square-foot gymnasium. Gibson, who was diagnosed in 2015, takes part in the classes himself.
