Detroit just cut the ribbon on a new $160 million bus terminal on the city’s west side.

Detroit opened the DDOT Coolidge Terminal, a $160 million bus facility on the west side that replaces an original depot lost to fire in 2011. The 200,000-square-foot complex includes a climate-controlled garage for 120 buses, a maintenance building, and an administration center with updated break rooms, gym, lockers, and showers for staff. The project, funded by $102.5 million in federal money plus $31.5 million from the city and $25.6 million from the state, consolidates west side operations that had been scattered to the aging Gilbert Terminal and should boost reliability and driver/mechanic working conditions.
