Elmwood Alight: light and art walk fills a 180-year-old cemetery

DETROIT. Elmwood Cemetery, 180 years old, hosted Elmwood Alight, a three-night walk of light art and live music built around the theme "Timescapes," a nod to Detroit's history with timekeeping. Eight Metro Detroit artists built the installations, from projection mapping on the chapel to copper sculptures and an inflatable piece set up in the walnut grove.
Gates opened at 7:30 p.m. on the Wednesday night and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with last entry at 9:30 and the gates closing at 10. Admission wasn't free: general tickets ran $25, with kids 10 and under let in at no charge, and add on tours of the cemetery's history or its curator's picks cost $10 more each.
