The Coney: one night, $2.72 million for kids' arts

DETROIT. The Coney sold out the Detroit Opera House in its first year, and the night raised $2.72 million for the Endowed Fund for Youth Arts at the Children's Foundation of Michigan. Marc Evan Jackson, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Good Place actor, built the show after Kansas City's Big Slick, mixing sketch comedy, stand-up and a live auction on a talk-show set.
The cast leaned on Michigan names: J.K. Simmons, Sam Richardson, Tim Meadows, Dave Coulier, Tony Hawk, Jon Glaser, Amber Ruffin, Diona Reasonover and Larry Joe Campbell took the stage, with video segments from Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.
Jackson has already said The Coney comes back in 2027.
