Handweavers' biennial show: 500 members, 22 guilds, through Oct. 25

ANN ARBOR. The Michigan League of Handweavers' 23rd Biennial Fiber Show runs through Oct. 25 at the Ann Arbor Art Center, 117 W. Liberty St. The league's roughly 500 members, spread across 22 guilds, show work in weaving, spinning, felting, knitting, dyeing, basketry, papermaking, and doll-making, among other disciplines.

Judge Cathryn Amidei awards prizes in two categories, sculptural fiber art and functional pieces like garments and shawls. A retrospective of the late textile artist Millie Danielson runs alongside the main show.

Visitors can add their own work to a community tapestry loom in the gallery, no experience required. Workshops and live demonstrations continue through the run.
