Metro Detroit's fall arts season: previews across music, theater and galleries

METRO DETROIT. Hour Detroit's fall arts preview runs from a Frederic Church retrospective at the Detroit Institute of Arts, "Guests of Honor: Frederic Church's Cotopaxi," through Oct. 25 ($20, free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County residents), to the University of Michigan Museum of Art's "Black Wall Street Journey," 20 new works by Rick Lowe on Black wealth, opening Sept. 26 and running through Jan. 24, free. Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills opens "The World of Anna Sui," more than 100 looks from the Detroit born designer's archive, Oct. 21 through Feb. 28 ($12, free Thursdays).

On stage, Gary Clark Jr. plays the Fillmore Detroit Sept. 16 (from $68), Beck plays the Fox Theatre Oct. 12 (from $61), and Journey brings its final North American tour to Little Caesars Arena Nov. 2 (from $55). Fisher Theatre runs "Dirty Dancing: The Musical" Oct. 13 to 18 (from $36) and the six Tony winning "Maybe Happy Ending" Oct. 20 through Nov. 1 (from $45.63). Detroit Public Theatre stages "Eureka Day," a satire about vaccine policy at a private school, Sept. 23 through Oct. 25 (from $52).
