6 hotels: Detroit's newest luxury stays, from Water Square to the Cambria

DETROIT. Detroit Month of Design season brings a wave of hotel openings. The JW Marriott Detroit Water Square opens February 2027 with more than 600 rooms and an 11,000 square foot spa, the city's first JW Marriott. Kasa Cadillac Square offers tech enabled apartments with self check-in at 139 Cadillac Square.

The Godfrey, a 222 room Curio Collection hotel on Michigan Avenue, has run since 2023. Hotel David Whitney on Park Avenue sits steps from Comerica Park and the Fox Theatre, and the Cambria on West Lafayette occupies the Albert Kahn designed Walker Roehrig Building. Shinola Hotel rounds out the list on Woodward Avenue.
