Anna Sui: West Bloomfield native's fashion retrospective opens Oct. 21

BLOOMFIELD HILLS. Cranbrook Art Museum opens The World of Anna Sui Oct. 21, running through Feb. 28. The designer grew up in Dearborn Heights and West Bloomfield, graduating from West Bloomfield High School before building a fashion label out of a Manhattan apartment in 1981.

The show holds nearly 100 garments, grouped by the characters Sui designs around: pirate rock stars, surfer nomads, grunge girls, pre-Raphaelite maidens. It's the eighth stop on a world tour that started in London in 2017.
