Strides for SOS: Birmingham 5K raises money Sept. 27

BIRMINGHAM. Schools Offer Support holds its seventh annual Strides for SOS 5K and 1-mile run or walk Sept. 27 at 9 a.m., through the West Beverly neighborhood. Entry is $30 for adults, $20 for anyone under 19. Register by Sept. 12 for a guaranteed shirt.

The nonprofit is chasing a $60,000 goal this year. Overall winners get a $50 Hanson's gift card, and a runner called the banana paces the 1-mile course: any kid who beats it wins a prize.
