Tigers sweep Yankees: Torkelson walk in the 11th wins it, 6-2
NEW YORK. The Tigers swept the Yankees with a 6-2 win in 11 innings Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Troy Melton allowed just two hits and no runs over six-plus innings, striking out seven.
Detroit led 2-0, but the Yankees tied it in the ninth on a solo home run and a wild pitch. The Tigers broke through again in the 11th when New York reliever Camilo Doval walked first baseman Spencer Torkelson with the bases loaded, forcing in the winning run.
