ANN ARBOR. Eater Detroit's updated guide to the city's restaurants runs to 13 stops, from the long-running Knight's Steakhouse to the newer Echelon. Sava's makes the list too, known for a pork and kimchi nachos dish and a mac and cheese made with four cheeses.

The guide frames Ann Arbor as worth the drive for Detroit area diners. The University of Michigan keeps the sidewalks full of students, visiting family and game day crowds most weekends, and the restaurant scene has grown alongside it.
