Detroit's classic dishes: Eater's list swaps in birria and a pita wrap

DETROIT. Eater Detroit has refreshed its running list of Detroit dishes, the names that come up before coney islands and square pizza even get mentioned. Duly's Place still has its hani, a fried chicken pita sandwich. Phoenicia made the cut for ribs, and Yemen Cafe for lamb fahsa. La Jalisciense is on there for birria made with goat in the traditional Jalisco style, tied to the Mexican diaspora that shaped part of the city's food.

Some old standbys rotated off this time, including National Coney Island and Sister Pie. In their place: Michigan & Trumbull's Detroit-style pizza and Mitso's egg and cheese pita wrap.
