New bars in Detroit: the scene spreads past downtown and Woodward

DETROIT. Detroit's bar openings this year have scattered well beyond the usual downtown and Woodward corridor. Eater Detroit's new rundown covers 6 Spoke Brewing, a family-run brewery in Corktown with Detroit-themed beers, and Bar Chenin, an intimate wine bar near the Siren Hotel. Bastille Bar brought a retro basement feel downtown, and Saksey's, from NoHo Hospitality, opened downtown in mid-November with '60s and '70s decor and cocktails to match.

Eastern Market picked up Pocket Change, and the Eastside added a cluster of its own: Father Forgive Me, Cannons and the Antidote. Paris Bar landed in the North End. Detroit drinkers no longer have to pick from the same two or three blocks.
