Detroit Defies America’s Reading Recession: Inside the Quiet Comeback of DPSCD

Detroit Public Schools Community District has been named a national "Success Story" for post-pandemic academic recovery, with students now learning faster than 91 percent of U.S. districts. Under Superintendent Nikolai Vitti's leadership since 2017, the district rebuilt core systems through consistent curriculum, improved teacher recruitment, expanded academic support, and reconnected with families.
