Angelo's Fine Italian: two top chefs open a Grosse Pointe restaurant this fall
GROSSE POINTE. Chefs Jared Gadbaw of Oak & Reel and Cory Barberio of the Shinola Hotel are opening Angelo's Fine Italian in the Village this fall, a 155 seat restaurant at 16844 Kercheval with a 15 seat bar and a 40 seat private dining room downstairs. The menu leans on Italian American classics: house made pastas, fresh baked clams, mortadella skewers and roast chicken, built around local sourcing and wine.
Gadbaw spent nine years as chef at Marea, the two Michelin starred New York restaurant, before returning to his Garden City roots. Barberio worked for Robert De Niro's restaurant group before joining Detroit's food scene in 2018. The name honors Barberio's son, Angelo, and nods to the original Angelo's on Mulberry Street in New York's Little Italy.
