DPSCD Class of 2026: $279 million in scholarships, up $41 million

DETROIT. Detroit Public Schools Community District's graduating class of 2026 earned $279 million in scholarship offers, a jump of $41.2 million over last year. Onanna Jacy, valedictorian at Cass Technical High School, earned $1.5 million in offers and a full ride to Harvard. Geovonni Dickerson, the first male valedictorian at Crockett Midtown High School of Science and Medicine, brought in $3.1 million on his own.

MaKayla Galloway became the first Division I female soccer player in DPSCD and Cass Tech history and is headed to Abilene Christian University to study nursing and play soccer. Justin Bakeman, a Southeastern High School graduate, secured full tuition to Ferris State University, where he plans to study accounting and psychology. The district's College Career & Beyond and Midnight Golf programs sent 100 percent of their participants on to college.
