ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day: 20 years since Luther Keith started it

DETROIT. ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day turns 20 this year. The late Luther Keith, a former newspaper journalist, started both the event and the nonprofit behind it two decades ago. This year's Neighborhoods Day happens Saturday, August 1, with neighborhood groups across the city setting up their own activities as part of the citywide celebration.

Erin Keith, Luther's daughter and a board member with the organization, talked about what pushed her father to build it in the first place and where the group goes from here. She grew up attending Neighborhoods Day herself.
