Aurora Italiana: a third location, first one downtown

DETROIT. Aurora Italiana is opening its first Detroit location later this year, inside the historic Briggs Houze building near Grand Circus Park, a space that once held the Michigan Oriental Theater and, more recently, PAO Detroit. The 110-seat restaurant takes the bottom two floors, with an open kitchen making bread, pasta, and sauce daily, and a seed-oil-free menu served for dinner seven nights a week.
It's the third restaurant from the group, following the original in West Bloomfield in 2023 and Aurora on the Lake in Commerce Township in 2024. The building's owner, Barbat Holdings, is also converting the upper floors into a Hyatt Hotel with 118 residential units. An opening date and menu are still to come.
